What is the difference between a W900 and an W900L? ›

The Kenworth W900L is a long hood version of the W900, featuring a longer wheelbase and an extended hood for enhanced aesthetics and improved engine cooling. While both models share many similarities, the W900L offers additional space for under-hood components, making it easier to maintain and service.

The distinguishing difference between W900A and W900B was the latter's use of rectangular headlamps. Aside from this, the newer unit also has better hood line height and higher mounting on the frame to improve engine cooling. W900B also sported a better frame for the cab and sleeper units.

In 2020, Kenworth began to pare down the model line, ending production of the W900S (replaced by the W990 and the T880S). Sharing its wider cab with the T680/T880, the W990 is an all-new design distinct from the W900. The extended-hood W900B and W900L remain in current production.

W900L stands for long hood, however the door will be stamped W900B. Every W900L is stamped W900B, it has nothing to do with the hood, its the cab that is the reason for the B.

The W900 is available with the industry-leading PACCAR MX-13. These highly efficient, clean running engines deliver up to 510 hp and 1,850 lb-ft of torque – all the muscle you need to do the job.

There are two fuse boxes, one located near the engine or under the hood and the other is located near the driver seat. The car fuse box under the hood protects engine components including engine control unit (ECU), cooling fan, ABS motor and battery.

Your fuse box will have two sets of fuses. At the bottom will be 15-amp and 20-amp screw-in fuses with glass faces that are exposed and visible. These fuses will service branch light circuits and outlet circuits. At the top will be 30-amp or 40-amp cartridge main fuses for ovens, laundry rooms, or stoves.

You must visually inspect the fuse to see if it has blown. Household electrical fuses typically look like a cylinder or plug with a glass window in the middle or on top. In that window, you should see a thin metal strip without any breaks or discoloration.
